Darling Girl Cosmetics - An Order of Odds and Ends

I adore Darling Girl, and had to sneak in one last order before my No Buy is very strictly adhered to. It wasn't until I began posting that I realized this is a bit of a hodge-podge order. Susan must think I'm crazy! ;)

Always wrapped pretty and like a present.

My order! Squee!!

I decided I needed green lip gloss. I have been pleased with Taupetation so I included Love and Melcancholy. More sparkles with Red. The red and gold glitter leave these guys looking orange.

Little Black Dress is a cream eye shadow base. I have the white, marshmellow fluff and I wanted to see if the black was as pigmented as the white. My swatch below was disappointing, but I haven't really played with it.

Even though this was a small order, two free samples were included! Yey! and *sigh* I like these.

GWP Wrecking Ball (I hope this goes permanent), Serpentine Wonder Wand. I'm find these are best used in very thin layers or they crease on my hooded eyelids. I also wanted Saucy Minx but it sold out very quickly.

On the Top Still at the Nerd table over and beside Little Black Dress. Bottom row: Serpentine Wonder Wand, Love and Melancholy Balm Gloss.

I saw the listings for the filter faker perfecting powders, and I thought most would be too dark for me. However I'm include this sad photos as in the upper corner (the lower half has Still At the Nerd Table) is Heavenly. I'm going to try this out tomorrow and I suspect I'll be adding it to my wishlist.

I think one of the best things about the No Buy I'm going on is I will be able to catch up with what I have. I could swear I ordered Air Kiss, a KISU, but I can't find it. I had a couple orders combined during my half-birthday emotional spending spree and that particular order was included (Susan contacted me and asked if I wanted to combine them! Awesome service!). I don't want to accuse her of not sending it, but I was so excited for it. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed if the kidlets tried to get it :(

Have you shopped at Darling Girl? Do you have trouble not ordering every beautiful GWP? What do you think about the TAT?

Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet May 2015.

The theme for this month is The Price of Magic, inspired from the TV show Once Upon A Time. The Vanish Cabinet is the monthly subscription box from Notoriously Morbid, which bills for $17 per month. There was actually two months between this cabinet and the one before to allow the women at Notoriously Morbid a chance to focus, and create a comprehensive set (and move locations).

The VC comes with a nice print out welcoming you for the month.

This is a guest blush from Dark Heart Designs. I would have never chosen this name, but perhaps those kinds of jokes about special massages where only in my group of 18-year-old friends. This is a nice coral blush with a gold sparkle that seems to remain even when you rub the blush in.

This is a sample of the new Diablo Lip Rouges called Wicked Heart.

These labels are really pretty.

Bottoms of the jars.

From left to right: You Want Darkness?, Dearie, Misthaven, Always the Queen.

Look at the sparkle!

Again, look at that sparkle!

It's a great value for 4 mini eye shadows, a lipstick and a blush sample. I've never heard of Dark Heart Designs, and I'm glad I can check them out.

Swatches!

Top to bottom: Lipstick: Wicked Heart, Blush - Happy Ending, (A tiny bit of Dearie as I worried it might blend into my skin in the photos), You Want Darkness?, Misthaven, Always the Queen and Dearie.

Notoriously Morbid has had some drama this month, and I'm still making up my mind how I feel about it, so I'm just going to summerize with I adore Misthaven of this bunch. I want to try out the lip rouge and it gives the most beautiful purple sheen over the red.

Do you still watch Once Upon A Time? What did you think of this cabinet?

Solstice Scents - My review in a nutshell

Here's what I think of the summer box:

Are you going to be picking up anything in today's release?

Innocent and Twisted Alchemy Alchemists May 2015

Innocent and Twisted Alchemy offers a monthly subscription. What is unique and special about this one is you can choose the sample size ($16 with shipping) or the full size ($22 with shipping). I've been watching this one and finally decided to try it out last month.

The package.

How awesome is this drawing? I love people with passions and skills. I believe it was drawn by the owner's brother.

Three shadows, and four bonuses! Four!

The first was a shadow from Aromaleigh, a company that I have actually being eyeing. Quarantine. This is my first shadow from this brand, and exclusive to this subscription. I wonder if full size subscriptions received a larger sample.

Femme Fatale has been absolutely amazing. I'm very new to this brand (only have tried them for a few months) but I suspect they will be in my top three by the end of the year. I was super excited to see Xenomorph.

The sample for Siren Song appears to be randomized. The colour I recieved, Disgraced Monk matches the Alien theme.

Another company I want to try, and actually almost ordered this product is full size the day before my subscription arrived is Limnit Lipsticks. They made this shade for the sub, and it's a great neutral. I heard this is a new formula that is more moisturizing but I still found it drying. It also can stain the skin for days! Try not to accidentally get it somewhere like your stomach.

Look at how cool that art work is! I may not be able to watch the scary movies I love, but I can enjoy makeup goodies themed after them.

The three exclusive shadows to this month's collection.

All the shades open.
Quarentine in the bag, Extraterrestial, Xenomorph, Disgraced Monk on the top row. Face Hugger, Drone, and Ripley on the bottom.

Up close. They may be neutral, but I think they are gorgeous.

I knew I had to smear these on my face as soon as I opened them.

I know, the blending is ROUGH but gosh-darn-it, it's pretty good for also holding a squirmy baby. And, I didn't drop any of the shadows. I have a colour pop shadow I'm going to have to keep a close eye on as it's now marked with a perfect baby hand print.

So that's the May Innocent and Twisted subscription. Does it bother you when you get neutrals? Do you subscribe?

Decluttering: my shoes

Finally, I think I've found all the packed boxes that had shoes!

Here they are again: I have 33 pairs. Not pictured is a pair of mud boots. Average american women has 28.

It kinda kills me how much I've spent on shoes. And how so many of my "good deal" shoes are the ones that hurt, don't fit or I don't love. My take home message of the excercise: STOP BUYING GOOD DEALS!

The ones that I am keeping, some to be decided on through trial wears:

I know I can get this down more, and some of these shoes will be/are assigned special jobs such as "work shoes", "gardening shoes", "rainy day running shoes".

The ones that I will be donating/tossing:

I really need to repeat to myself that I am too old to wear uncomfortable shoes that go as far as making my feet bleed with blisters. Many of these haven't been worn more than a couple times around the house and I think they can find a home. Others don't suit my lifestyle. Gosh, I get so attached. I know I'll miss them. But, a house with only what we need will be better 😀

This took me about an afternoon (little more because the children help 😉). I'd recommend you do the same.

How many shoes do you have? How often, if ever, do you purge?

Kiss My Sass Lip Addicts Premier Subscription Box, May 2015

Well, Second time premier.., first for me.  As a cannuck, it's $16 with shipping, and this month shipping was refunded! Crazy great customer service that was not expected.

All the goodies!

The lip product this month is Hypnotic Lip Glaze. It's a nice light purple that lasts a couple of hours on me.

Here's my lips!

Sample included a cream blue eyeshadow (which has made a pretty good base) and a perfume sample of a stock scent. I'm very glad I got this sample as I don't like it. It's very strong, sweet and just a sniff starts a headache for me. I think this might be on the discontinued list. I'm okay with that.

Also included was an eye shadow in tattoo. This is a darken blue with some nice sparkles. I didn't swatch is right away as it's a bit dark (but will make a great liner).

Ipsy May 2015: Glam Bag Review

Ipsy is a subscription service that sends 5 beauty samples each month. This bag cost me $14.95 US.

The theme for May: Jetsetter!

Cute! VIP bag!

My goodies spilling out of the bag.

Here's everything I received. A great month!

Peter Lamas Citrus Facial cleanser (smells great!) and Cavair CC cream. I really like the CC cream.

Bellapierre gel eye liner and Pixi by petra bronxer.

Urban Decay lip liner and two samples. I think these are like the OCC lip tars and I'm so glad to test them. I can not get the formula to work with me.

Here's the final look. I really liked this bag, and as usual I got much more than the value of bag. However... I'm going to step up and get more serious about my debt repayment and my no-buy. I did not renew my Ipsy subscription and it's killing me. I suspect I'll resub in the future but the $19 canadian per month for items I may love or may become clutter is not for right now.
