ColourPop review - 5 months in

It's been 5 months since I first got my ColourPop

Here they are all sitting in my drawer!

In the jars from top to bottom, Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

\in the jars from top to bottom, Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

The underside so that one may read them from top to bottom, Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

And with the bottom half in focus from top to bottom, Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

The consistency is between a cream, powder, mouse and something special. This means you can move the shadows around a bit like play-doh.

However, I live in Calgary which isn't the desert but is considered semi-arid.

As you can see in Get Lucky my shadows although the lids have been screwed on tight, the textures have been changing over time.

This one here shows how they start to just crumble, and become closer to loose shadow.

It makes use more difficult but not impossible. I am surprised it's happening as ColourPop states the shadows are good for 2 years unopened and 1 year if the care is taken to keep lids closed.

A couple have completely unstuck from the pan. They look like they have shrank. The colour payoff is also reducing. They are still very pigmented but not as vibrant.

A quick swatch on my bare arm; From top to bottom: Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

A second angle to show of that amazing ColourPop glitter. From  top to bottom: Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

Thumper (blush) - I find this blush very hard to blend, both with my fingers and a brush. I have seen others be more successful.

Girly - This is the colour of my skin tone. It's lovely and pretty.

Get Lucky - I love this shade! The staying power is amazing!

Hello - This is one where the pigmentation on skin is diminishing.

Fringe - Love it!

So Quiche - Amazing purple sparkles. Love!

I <3 this - This one is suffering from the drying affect.

Flux - Another one that isn't as nice as when first purchased. It seems the matte shades are not staying coloured.

Snapdragon - This shade doesn't look as nice on my skin as I hoped. A nice shade for others.

Daddy - Again, the colour is hard to get on the lids after a few months.

Partridge - This is from last year's christmas collection.

Bae - A because shade that has also been losing pigmentation.

One last time from top to bottom, Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

And because no blog post is complete without me looking like an idiot...

I'm wearing Hello, Get Lucky and Partridge. We're practicing the duck face pose.

Colourpop is wonderful! I do love my shadows. I know I live somewhere semi-arid, and although it's much more moist than were I used to live I think I'm still seeing my shadows dry up. I think I need to take this into consideration (and along with my desire to be more minimalist) and only purchase the shadows I plan to use for the next few months. Really, this allows me to pick a few trendy shades. I suspect I will be reaching for my colourPop shadows the most when I go back to work as I can get a nice complete eye look in minutes, many don't require primers, some have lasted through shadows and remained looking fabulous. Perfect for work.

Additionally, I find the ColourPop containers to be bulky for my storage space, and I like to see the actual shades (rather than searching through a pile or stacked on the side). I strongly think I will buy more (even if the Canadian dollar continues to fall) but I think I will be waiting another 7 months to see how they fair in semi-arid conditions and how I can use them if/once they dry out.

Blackbird love!!

My latest order (but not my most definately last) from blackbird arrived today!

A small order, but of very important things to me.

I ordered two pressed shadows, one loose shadow and was generously given 2 eye shadow sample baggies.

A hand stamped "Thank you".

An accompanying handwritten note.

I cannot believe the attention to detail on this label.

Samples I suspect were chosen because they go will with Juliet.

Juliet was shipped with a sealed shifter.

Again, so pretty.

The pressed shadows were wrapped with tons of care.

I ordered two more pressed shadows that I honestly thought I had added . When I realized I hadn't (because they weren't on the packing slip) I tried to search for dupes in my hundreds of shades. I haven't found one yet for Everest (a taupe-like green) and Ruca (a blackened rust red).

This is my last Blackbird order for a bit (hello No Buy July!) but I think I will be ordering again in 2016. I love the products and although the Blackbird line is small compared to other indie companies I love, I honestly can not find many dupes.

What are you Blackbird favorites? Have you found any good dupes? Have you had any problems with shipping? Where you able to get a anniversary (happy one year Blackbird!)?

Darling girl wicked is coming and lip swatches

I absolutely adore this set.

This limited edition tin contains the three Wicked Is Coming eyeshadows and lip product. This is the second edition based on Once Upon a Time. I believe there are more to come!

Dearie, The boy who wouldn't grow up, Love is weakness, and Evil Queen.

These are so amazing and pigmented! Dearie, Boy who wouldn't grow up, and Love is weakness. Over bare skin, sticky base, primer and bare skin.

The gold is amazing, but my favorite is the boy who wouldn't grow up.

I'm trying to capture the sparkles and shifts here.

Above is set 2. Since I also have set one, I thought I would compare/swatch the two together!

Set 1 was called Fairy Tale Romance - and the gloss is my take every gloss! Love the Love Bug!

If I only had a hear, Hot as Baelfire, Let's hook up.

If I only had a hear, Hot as Baelfire, Let's hook up. If I only had a heart has a bit of transfer in it. It's really more pure than you see here.

There are all together.

I picked up two new lip products at the same time.

Tea Time Pucker Paint and Berried Treasure Sparkle-Matte-ic.

Evil Queen Pucker Paint, Tea Time Pucker Paint and Berried Treasure Sparkle-Matte-ic. Wet.

Lots of pretty purple and blue sparkles in Berried Treasure.

All the pretties together! I loved the first set, it's surprisingly verstile. However, the second set has won in my mind.

Tea Time leaked a little in the package, and you can see here it's much thinner and more liquid than Berried Treasure.

Evil Queen, Tea Time Pucker Paint and Berried Treasure Sparkle-Matte-ic. Dry.

Yet again, another happy purchase. What I really love about Susan is she noticed a few weeks later that the tin sets were a tad over priced. She included a coupon code for more than the overpriced amount in this order! So, yes, I may have placed an order during the fourth of July sale. Just a teeny one. :)
