Luxe Box Spring 2015 review

Luxe Box is a Canandian Quaterly Subsciption box for about $26 per month. Rate goes down with longer subscriptions. I'm a bit hard on this box as it was the box I was the most excited for last year, and it has yet to live up to my expectations. From not sending boxes, boxes missing, products sub pare, not meeting the "guaranteed value", and spamming of upgrade emails, I am disappointed. I have faith it will get better, and I love that it is Canadian.. but I wonder why sometimes.

Boxes are shipped in these cute cardboard layouts that are never actually glued shut.

Cute logo on the internal box. I love using these for storage around the house.

Products come in a beautiful linen bag.

My information card was in much nicer condition this time.

A 24 K Gold Caviar Cotton sheet mask $3.00
A broken Loose Button Blending Tool $15.00

Buxon Show Some Skin foundation sample set $2?
Eyeko Brow Gel $15 (I want to try these two!)

Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Exfoliant, $14.00
DKNY Eau de Parfum $11.25

This is really pale. I'd rather wear Julep's Oxygen Nail Treatment as it's about the same intensity. $6.00

There's the total box. Overall, I love the packaging and there are two items I want to try out. I want to see what shade of foundation I might be, and I would like to try the brow. I will use the face mask, probably not the BHA nor the parfum. I will be gifting the nail polish.

The total value as given by Loose Button for my box was $64 - which I think is low. Especially since the front page says every box is $70+. It's close.. but not.

Again, I want to love this box so much, but ... I'm very meh about this, and I don't even know if I care enough to ask about the broken tool. I think my husband equivalent can fix it, and that seems easier than trying to pull teeth.

Cancelling is a bit of a pain too because you have to call and speak to a person. I might wait for one more box.

EDIT: I've contacted the super friendly customer service, and they are going to make my broken product right. I might not get the same item, but I will get a replacement.

Luxe Box Winter Box Review

I still have mixed feelings about Luxe Box by Loose Button. I love that it's a Canadian company. I have some quads about service including not receiving boxes. I paid $25 for this box (semi-annual plan). Of all the boxes I subscribed to I thought this is the one that would be the best.

Each box is to have "a minimum value of $70+" and 7-8 products.

I was able to log into my account and see my items prior to receiving the shipping notice. Which they originally sent out the shipping numbers from my previous Luxe Boxes, corrected the next day. I really wanted to upgrade to the Enchantress Box for an extra $8 but didn't because my first upgrade box had gone missing.

I love the boxes and the bags that they use. I find the are fantastic.

There was a nice welcome letter. However it was a bit wrinkled detracting from the feeling of being a valued customer.

Foil Packet of Butter London Matte Lipstick. This sample was so small it was hard to tell if the trouble I had applying (and the creasing/staining outside) was due to low quality lip stick or logistics. Full size $20, sample Free.

Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Niagara Overlook. I like this colour and I look forward to trying it out on me. $10.

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool firming face Gels for smile lines. This might be really nice. I certainly have some wrinkles in my smile lines. Full size 8 gel packs, $35. One gel pack, $8.25

Amika Perk-Up Dry Shampoo. I like this one. I have two samples like this I haven't used yet. Sample size 30 mL, $10.

Paula's Choice Clinical KP Treatment Cloths. These have good reviews and will be gifted to someone with more use for them than me. Sample size 10 cloths, $14.

Suki Exfoliate foaming cleanser. Smells like lemon cuticle oil, but it does have an expiry date on the bottom. Sample size 30 mL, $10.95

Nicole by Opi in Profoundly Purple. This tiny bottle comes out the colour of mud. It's awful. I even tried to use it to remove my current nail polish, but even that didn't work. Sample size 3.75 mL, $3.99.

When I saw two eye-lash curlers I immediately checked to see which item I was missing. I wasn't. Loose Button places the value of these at $20 each.

The total value of these 7 items (I can't count the little snippet of lipstick as an item) is about $77.25 which meets and exceeds the claim of $70 value.

I'm still torn if I should drop this box, or keep it another round. I don't like that I have to call to cancel and I'm sensing that I might not be able to cancel due to my subscription renewing next week. If you're interested, please use my link to save a few extra dollars each quarter.

What did you get in your box? Are you a Luxe Box Fan? Did you upgrade?

Fall Luxe Box Review

After being very disappointed in my first Luxe Box - you know the one that never arrived, and then the replacement that wasn't shipped, and the cheque for the amount I over paid that never arrived - I wondered what my second Luxe Box would have. I was tempted by a few of the promotional upgrade boxes, but I was/am still upset about the half-assed attempt to correct their many mistakes and unhelpful customer service.

I do have to admit the boxes are nice. I have one problem with the cardboard boxes they ship in. The glue is so weak, I can't believe more boxes just don't go missing. Perhaps Canada Post only hires staff with delicate hands.

I received seven products.

1. Loose Button, Fan Brush, $18
2. AG Hair, High and Dry Finish Spray, sample size 50 mL, $8.00
3. Lila Grace, Tropical scents body lotion, sample size 65 mL, $4.00
4. So Susan, Universal blush, full size, $17,50
5. Burt Bees, Lip gloss in "Ruby Moon", full size, $12.99
6. Amarte, Aqua Veil Pure Hydration Serum, sample size 5 mL, $4.50
7. Amarte, Aqua cream, sample size 5 mL, $10.00

I will probably use all these products, so no waste here. I like the brush, but to me it doesn't fit the $18 loose button value. I just don't feel wowed, and I'm still disgrunted from last month. I'll be pondering for the next few days if I want to continue this subscription or not. I subscribed to many boxes as I had "run out" of beauty products, but I think I have become well stocked again :)

Total cost $26 plus GST
Total value $74.99 (Pretty amazing!)

If you're interested, use my link and I think you'll get a discount for the winter box. The final day to sign up is December 3rd, and the link should be active until then.

What did you think of the Fall Luxe Box? Did you upgrade?

Luxe Box Summer Vows Review

Yeah... I hope the first thing you notice is that I didn't get my summer vows box. I received the shipping notice for both my regular box, and my summer vows which I had bought from the boutique for $35 because I was quite excited for Luxe Box and I wanted to try them both a regular box and a special limited edition. Retrospectively it probably would have been better to buy another subscription ($26, $25 or $24/box on quarterly, semi-annual and annual plans) and pay the upgrade ($6).

Here's what is included in the Summer Vows Limited Edition Luxe Box:

I ordered in time to get the English Laundry, Notting Hill bonus product. Which, due to a love of Hugh Grant films, I was excited to gift to my boyfriend.

received both shipping numbers (for my subscription box and my limited edition box) on the same day. The second shipping number never moved from waiting to be received. I was good, patience and waited the 2.5 weeks as requested online before contacting Loose Button about a missing box. After a month of emails back and forth, I was told a replacement box would ship. I later received a tracking number that, just like the first box, never moved. I contacted Loose Button again after 8 business days of waiting. Somehow, my box made it into the mail that night. A few days later, it was at my door.

Here's what I got:
\
I will admit I do like these boxes. They are very nice and sturdy.

A look inside and at the pouch the products arrived in.

2 x 25 g tubes of Crabtree and Evelyn hand lotion. Both of these are on sale right now for $8, and both of these tubes look slightly ... damaged. $16

A very nice pair of tweezers, a 4 mL Nicole OPI nail polish in a cute bottle, and a full size teeez eye shadow.  I believe this is the same shade of polish as the limited edition box. Tweezers $13, polish sample $3.99, teeez shadow estimated value after conversion $23.

The back of the shadow indicating the colour, paradise bird. Sounds pretty. I'm not sure how I feel about this being the only full size, non-damaged product. This is close to what was offered.

Vera Wang Lovestruck perfume sample. I don't like this scent, and I'm find the tube very awkward to use without spilling. Size 4 mL, currently selling at  sale price of $32/3.4 oz (down from $78).  Estimated sample value $1.28, regular price $3.12

Close up on the perfume.

Eslor sample package (actually this made me realize I probably didn't everything from my beauty box 5. That package only had two samples not four). Estimated value $15. But these are foil sample packages. It feels a bit like a let down to be the second highest value in the box, the third being tweezers.

Nexxus Youth Renewal, 4 mL sample. This does smell pretty, I'll use this. $14.99 for 28 mL, value of sample $2.14

The whole lot, total estimated value $ 74.42. Really?.. Doesn't feel like it.

I forgot to include the bonus package of crest white strips valued at $5 for all luxe box customers.

Customer service, although very polite, doesn't answer questions leaving me wondering what is actually happening. Unfinished thoughts like "we would love to send you a replacement box." with out indicating if one will actually be sent drive me a tad insane. I like it when professional companies are very clear, and I expect them to have experience with these kind of issues. I understand the limited edition sold out, so I think I was hoping for something fantastic. Worth the $35 plus tax from the boutique, the $71 plus bonus promised price tag. Something like the eyeko liner I lusted for. Something to say "we're sorry, we lost your order". Something nice.

Instead I got what looks like random stuff they had lying around. As my boyfriend put it "The tweezers are nice". Yeah.. That's about all I can say. Although the "value" is close to what I ordered $74 compared to $71, I feel really let down and I am not happy about this box. I have one more left on my subscription and I plan on calling to cancel in October. *sigh* I hate having to call in, I really thought I would love this subscription box.

If you love a gamble, and want to see if you'll get your own luxe box in the mail, please use my link. It apparently comes with a special discount, meaning your might save $1 or $2.  There's a tempting Be a Bombshell upgrade (for $13).

Products Included:
  • Be a Bombshell | Lip Gloss in "Caliente"
  • Be a Bombshell | Eyeshadow in "Tempted'
  • Be a Bombshell | Blush in "Glowing Goddess"
  • Be a Bombshell | One Stick in "You Glow Girl"
  • Be a Bombshell | Lip Crayon in "Some Beach"
  • Loose Button | Blush Brush

Summer Luxe Box Review

After much anticipation on my part, my loose button summer luxe box finally arrived! I had also ordered the summer vows box, but it appears it hasn't shipped yet. Of all the boxes I wanted to try out, this is the one that I thought was going to be my favorite. It's $26/season, $50 for 2 seasons, or $96 for 4 seasons/1 full years. I opted for two seasons.

First: the glue on the box it shipped it had come loose. But the inner, prettier box was okay. The samples (note no longer are they listed as deluxe size samples on the loose button website, just samples).

The inner bag is very soft and pretty. I think I'll be able to find a use for it, as well as the very nice box it arrived it.

And there they are! My first luxe box sample box.

The nail polish seems very nice, but I'm not sure if it's a color for me. Teeez, Pretty in Pyrite, full size $14
I like L'Occitane cream, I'll be using this. If 30mL sells for $12, 10 mL is $4
LancĂ´me Genifique is just plain weird to me. Apparently a $20 value.
Ferraki PrX Conditioner and Shampoo. Used them today, they were nice. $5 each
Tweezers. Always nice. Can go into a first aid kit. $13
Eyeko skinny liquid eyeliner. Very nice! I drew a heart on my hand and it lasted without smudging through several washes. $19.
I'm not even going to talk about the fragrance. There is no price listed, and the reason I suspect is because it is just awful.

So according the Loose Button, I paid $25 and received $80 of product and a punishment of perfume. Maybe I've been out of the game or my expectations were too high, but I would classify this just as "meh". But, I might just be in love with that eyeliner.
