Ipsy June 2015

Ahhh Ipsy. I quit you. I came back.

I love that the mailers are still stinking bright pink. I don't like how they appear cheaper.

I think I got a pretty good deal this month. I've reviewed some other boxes and I like mine. Perhaps that means the quiz they ask when you sign up really does fit items to your profile.

Three sheet masks. I'm going to try my first one tonight.

Another J-cat product but this one looks better than that goopy mess sent last time. I can't find a colour name, only numbers.
My "please come back" product of Smashbox Photo Primer. I'm glad to try this out, but I did want to try the Too Faced lip product.

This little eye pencil got me! I thought I was missing the cap for it. I checked the bag several times.

I also got a tool - a flat tom concealer brush. I'll be using this. Not sure for what yet.

Here's the eye pencil and the lip gloss. The eye pencil is very close (but NOT metallic) to Darling Girl's cream wonder wand in Honey Pot. I'm going to try to use that to keep myself from placing a(nother) Darling Girl order in my No Buy July.

The baby immediately cried after swatching, I forgot about the lip stain and this happened. Le sigh.

A quick comparion between marimoto pink pearl (top) and honey pot (bottom).

I'll try to come back and update my Ipsy glam bag total shortly. I paid $14.95 US (about $22 Canadian with the current exchange rate) and received about $___ in value.

Ipsy May 2015: Glam Bag Review

Ipsy is a subscription service that sends 5 beauty samples each month. This bag cost me $14.95 US.

The theme for May: Jetsetter!

Cute! VIP bag!

My goodies spilling out of the bag.

Here's everything I received. A great month!

Peter Lamas Citrus Facial cleanser (smells great!) and Cavair CC cream. I really like the CC cream.

Bellapierre gel eye liner and Pixi by petra bronxer.

Urban Decay lip liner and two samples. I think these are like the OCC lip tars and I'm so glad to test them. I can not get the formula to work with me.

Here's the final look. I really liked this bag, and as usual I got much more than the value of bag. However... I'm going to step up and get more serious about my debt repayment and my no-buy. I did not renew my Ipsy subscription and it's killing me. I suspect I'll resub in the future but the $19 canadian per month for items I may love or may become clutter is not for right now.

Ipsy Glam Bag Review - April

Ipsy is a monthly glam bag for $14.95 which brings 5 beauty samples right to your door. This is my April bag.

Very cute bag and this one is lined!

The theme is Beautifully Bohemian.

Elizabeth Arden Moisturizing Lipstick and a full-size shade from the new Balm pallet.

MICA eye primer that caused some controversy. There were some bubbles that some thought might be mold. It looks fine to me, and if I hadn't received an email I wouldn't have thought twice. However.. the lip tint...

I totally see a fingerprint. This was not cool with me.

The blush, which I popped into my Z-pallet.

I contacted Ipsy Care and they are going to send a replacement for the lip tint, which went straight into the trash after the photo. It could have been possible it happened before the product was sterilized but I don't want to talk chances. I didn't calculate the value, but I am confident even with the trashed item, this was more than I paid. However... due to some unforeseen events, this will be my last Ipsy bag for a while. Frowny face. Please use my link if you're interested!

Ipsy March Glam Bag Review

Ipsy is an American subscription box for $10 plus $4.95 shipping to Canada. With current exchange rates this works out to be about $20 Canadian per month.

I adore this pink mailers!

March is Floral Fantasy. They must be tired of looking at snow like I am. I find all the stylists (even though they are different ethnicities) all look like the same person in four poses to me. All beautiful, but it takes me awhile to pick them out.

Five products this month are:
Nyx cosmetics Butter Lipstick in Hunk, Full size $6.
\Pur-lisse beauty gentle soymilk cleanser (and not so great at removing make-up) make-up remover. Sample size, ~$6.25
Boo-Boo cover up in medium, Sample size, ~$7.50
Dr. Brandt Skincare in Pores no more. Sample size, ~$8.00
Vintage highlight by Jessica Liebeskind. Sample size, ~$? Sold out online with no price listed.

This month was about $27, which is more than I paid. It's neat the highlight was made for Ipsy. I'll use the Pur-lisse as I love the brand even though it hasn't been the best remover. I like trying the lipstick and it fades to a very nice stain. I'm also looking forward to the Pore No More as this might be what I'm looking for rather than a foundation.

I'm still not sure if I should cancel my subscription or not. I think I'm going to let it sit for the next week and see what the Canadian dollar chooses to do. If it falls compared to the american, I might let this box go so that I can keep the more special OTM and Vanishing Cabinet.

Ipsy February glam bag review

Ipsy is a monthly subscription box for $10 plus $4.95 shipping to Canada.

This wasn't part of my bag, but it was for some last month. I used the promo code for 50% off to get this cute brush. It had good reviews, and shipping was... okay. So I decided to get it. I wouldn't have if it wasn't for last month's bag reviews.

First up:

Large Angled Face Brush 504. Estimated full price $16.00

Composition No. 1 Parfum Oil. I think this smelt nice. $4.50 ish.

This blush has been compared to Nars Orgasm - which may mean it's a great shade and a great find. I like the neutral colour of the gloss.
Mini Lip Gloss $6.00 ish

and

BLUSH Cheek Powder $22

Lastly

Rob Scheppy for 'Tini Beauty eyeshadow. This is a pretty easy to wear shade that I might depot and put into my new z-pallete but mostly because I'm looking for stuff to stick magnets to as I'm amused by the newness of the z-pallete. $6.45
This wasn't part of my bag, but it was for some last month. I used the promo code for 50% off to get this cute brush. It had good reviews, and shipping was... okay. So I decided to get it. I wouldn't have if it wasn't for last month's bag reviews. It's the Elizabeth Mott Shadow Brush.

So there it is. Total estimated value $54.50. I haven't had time to try out this bag because, yup, we're still renovating and it's somewhere in my bathroom pile.

Please use my link if you're tempted. This month was a great example of five products I might not buy often, but I do use and that I might fall in love with.

Ipsy January 2015

Ipsy is an American beauty subscription box that sends out 5 samples for about $10 per month plus $4.95 shipping to Canada.

This month is a durable blue and white bag to welcome the new year and a #fresh start.

First up: Probelle Into the Blue nail polish, full size, $6.00. Ipsy was thoughtful to wrap this polish in bubble paper to prevent breaks. Blue is a great colour for a fresh start as the association with the Virgin Mary.

Coastal Scents Liquid Eyeliner, sample size in Jet, $2.95 for full size. I used this to draw a flower on the toddler, and it worked nice. It probably would do a good job as an eyeliner as the tip is a small tapered brush.

Malin+Goetz mojito lip balm, full size, $12.00. This reminds me of what my dad used to buy as a kid. I can't recall the name. It worked well, but wasn't girly enough for a 12 year old.

La Fresh eco-beauty good day, day moisturizer. Full size is $40 for 50 gram .. so math suggests this sample size is $12.00. This product is just so cute. On the back it indicates the best way to be beautiful is to get lots of sleep and love (in more words). I'll save it for a surprise if you decide to buy/try the lotion. I am also delighted that this company sells dog products along side my human products. Truly for the whole family.

Pacifica natural mineral eye shadow in Etheral and swatch of the Pacifica eye shadow. Pretty close to my natural skin tone but sparkly. This is a much nicer formulation than my last Pacifica sample which despite being pretty colours was totally unusable. Set of 4 sells for $14, estimate value $3.50

I estimate this month's Ipsy bag to be worth $36.45. Given that I love one of the more expensive products and like the other one, January was a good deal with a couple bonuses. Please use my link here if you're interested in joining Ipsy.

Ipsy December review

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription for $10 plus $4.95 shipping. Here is my Ipsy review.

You could probably use the zip as a key chain if you needed a new one.
This month is a cute, classy bag that nearly matches the bring pink bubble mailer. This month is about Inspiring Original [Women].

All the pretties.

I think this month was a really great month for me.
CAILYN Cosmetics
Just Mineral Eye Polish
Full Size.$15. Interesting idea to include the applicator with the shadow. This shade is 005 Orchid, is lovely, pairs well with my GDE Fade to Fall and will also require a primer.

Coolway
Boost Repair Treatment
Sample Size. $30/8 oz, $3.75 for sample. I've been putting off buying new shampoo/condition until I really need it, so this will help me get into January. ;)

Crown Brush
Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush
Full Size. C476, on sale for $6.99

NYX Cosmetics
Butter Lip Balm
Full Size. $4. Every one received one of these in their bag. It's not fabulous, it's not awful. I'll use it.

tarte
deluxe lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara
Sample size. Full size, $19, sample size 0.10 fl oz or $8.25. This was another item that most Ipsters were to receive.

Give ME all the pretties! ;)

I can estimate the total of this bag to be $38 and I'll use all of the items (even if I don't love them). It's kinda like Ipsy got the feeling I was about to dump the subscription in a couple months when it's time to renew and wanted to tempt me into staying with them. Well played.

Take a picture of me!

Ipsy November review

Ipsy is a monthly beauty bag of 5 items. It's $10 per month plus $4.95 shipping to Canada.

At first I hate the bag (it's sponsored by Forever 21 Cosmetics) but at night it's a very pretty glittery, shimmery sparkle of light. I'm heading towards really liking it and wanting to find a use for it.

J. cat wonder beauty lip paint in Red Potion. $4.99. I loved the colour of this, but I was able to get it to stay on my lips in every way - from application within my lip area, to loosing the colour immediately. The consistency is very runny, so I had to throw it out lest a toddler find it.

Bye Bye Under Eye. Sample. This was a bit dark for me but only slightly. Included were instructions on how to use it, and by following the "heat then pat" procedure it worked well. Sample size.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Hair Spray. $3.25. I keep forgetting to use this on my toddler's sparkly frozen items to keep the glitter on.

Starlooks Gem Eye Pencil. $17.00. This was really pretty, and a colour I don't have. However, it's gone missing, and I think I know who took it. ;)

SeaRx skincare hand lotion. Sample. Gave this to the husband equivalent due to the warning seen below. He said it "was lotion".

That's right, not for pregnant or breast-feeding mommas.

The small print on the hand lotion indicated that pregnant and breastfeeding women should not use it, so this was passed on to my husband equivalent. I believe he described it as lotion.

I haven't had time to do a full cost break down for this bag but omitting the two samples the value is $25.24.

September ipsy glam bag review

Street style is the word these day at Ipsy. A subscription bag from the US at $11/month plus $4.95 shipping to Canada.

I looked at the sneak peak, so I knew what was coming at the beginning of the month. I don't have prices now, but I'll try to go back later and add them.

First, the Hikari lipstick in Cabernet. This is a gorgeous deep fall red. I'm not sure if this will match me, but it is a colour I would love to have the confidence to pull off. Full size.

UPDATE: Something in this lipstick causes an allergic reaction on my daughter's skin. I tried it out, saw it doesn't match my skin tone, and teased my daughter by leaving kiss marks on her belly. The rash was very mild, and cleared fast.

Pacifica 7 free nail colour in red red wine. Lovely packaging! I'm drowning in nail place polish, so I'll likely gift this to keep my makeup in one room of the house ;) full size.

Mitchell and Peach Floral no. 1 hand cream. This smells just like a hotel hand lotion, and feels similar. 30 mL.

Nourish organic face cleanser in cucumber and watermelon. True to its name, I can't smell anything. Organic and moisturizing. I'll add this to my shower. Size unspecified.

Be a bombshell smooth criminal powder. This was the product I was excited about and true to BaB, I can't get it out of the box. I look forward to trying this. 4 g.

Cost of this bag $11 plus $4.95 shipping. I'm not feeling rewarded with goodies this month, but I did get a staple and a fun product. If I have time, I'll go back and update the prices, I feel like the value is higher than what I paid. If you want to try Ipsy, please use my link.

Ipsy July 2014 Glam Bag - Sensationally Sunkissed

Great name for July! Again, I made a decision to purchase a year of Ipsy when I felt like I had a permanent (or at least a likely) home. I hadn't bought any make-up or make-up like products but a nail polish and replacement shamppo/condition in three years+ and had actually packed most of my supplies in storage for my "temporary" move... that lasted over a year. I decided to go through (and I'm still in the process of this) and toss much of what I had. I've had some of my creams/shadows for over six years! Enter the subscription box solution - low cost to introduce to what is out there, saves the trouble of hauling a toddler to the store and/or my own over shopping while there, and hopefully the products are used at the the same rate they arrive. It was a bit of an emotional purchase, and I'll know by the end of the year if it was a good one. Based on this bag, I think it is.

Here's a quick run down of what I received in my July Glam bag - which I'm pretty darn excited about.

Bare Minerals Ready eye-shadow 2.0: Full size, $20. I love pinks and the two colors are Muse (light pink) and Passion (dark purple).

Derma Cream bb cream with SPF 25: Full size $29/60mL, estimated sample volume 10 mL or $4.80 (?)

Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Lip Balm: Full size £12.00, estimated mini $7.00 in unique pink. I love this! It feels so nice on and has a nice minty taste.I don't notice any lasting stain, but I think I have the lightest shade they make.

Pop Beauty Sun Kissed Bronzer: This may look dark, but it actually goes on my skin quite light. I've been wanting to buy a bronzer, especially since the brilliance beads I ordered from the body shop aren't working for me and I hoped I would get one soon. Full size (?), Estimated $15.00

Pur-lisse pur-protect essential daily moisturizer SPF 30: I'm so excited for this. I actually ordered the fab fit fun box to get the full size bottle. I was totally going to try it out today but forgot in the herding to get my daughter ready. Full size $55, estimated sample $16.00

Even though the bag which I thought I would love smells and feels awful, I love this bag! Total estimated value $62.80.

Ipsy is $10 month plus $4.95 shipping to Canada. Feel free to use my link here.

June Ipsy review: Pretty in Paradise

Ipsy is a US beauty monthly subscription box featuring 5 products. It's $10/month plus $4.95 shipping. I signed up for a year (again, very late at night emotional spending, made sense at the time) and you can do the same here using my code. If you like, that is. This month's theme was Pretty in Paradise, and the spoilers looked to be very promising.

Here's a look at the bag:

Carol's Daughter
Sacred Tiare Anti-Breakage & Anti-Frizz Styling Cream
I can always use hair supplies, and this has good reviews. Full size $12, sample size about 1/9th, about $1.30.

NYX Butter Gloss  It looks full size, $5. I like it. It's nice and essentially clear.

OFRA
Universal Eyebrow Pencil
I'm probably never going to use this, I have bushy eyebrows as it is. According to the website, which does not appear to ship to Canada, $13.

Nicka K New York Shimmer Eyeliner  An estimated $4.99, looks to be a nice liquid eyeliner.

Realtree for Her. I'm impressed that a) they packaged the sample in it's own baggie, and b) I liked the scent. I'm still not used to wearing perfume/scented products after working in many scent-free environments but I might give this one a chance. Full size $24.99, sample size free*! (*In my opinion).

One more look at the fancy, celebrity designed bag. It looks looks moderately waterproof - it would be good for flying.

So that's June's ipsy. It's an estimated $24.30 on Ipsy product links, I paid about $15.60 with the exchange rate at the time. The value seems about right. I don't think If you're inspired to try your luck, please use my link.
