ColourPop review - 5 months in

It's been 5 months since I first got my ColourPop

Here they are all sitting in my drawer!

In the jars from top to bottom, Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

The underside so that one may read them from top to bottom, Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

And with the bottom half in focus from top to bottom, Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

The consistency is between a cream, powder, mouse and something special. This means you can move the shadows around a bit like play-doh.

However, I live in Calgary which isn't the desert but is considered semi-arid.

As you can see in Get Lucky my shadows although the lids have been screwed on tight, the textures have been changing over time.

This one here shows how they start to just crumble, and become closer to loose shadow.

It makes use more difficult but not impossible. I am surprised it's happening as ColourPop states the shadows are good for 2 years unopened and 1 year if the care is taken to keep lids closed.

A couple have completely unstuck from the pan. They look like they have shrank. The colour payoff is also reducing. They are still very pigmented but not as vibrant.

A quick swatch on my bare arm; From top to bottom: Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

A second angle to show of that amazing ColourPop glitter. From  top to bottom: Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

Thumper (blush) - I find this blush very hard to blend, both with my fingers and a brush. I have seen others be more successful.

Girly - This is the colour of my skin tone. It's lovely and pretty.

Get Lucky - I love this shade! The staying power is amazing!

Hello - This is one where the pigmentation on skin is diminishing.

Fringe - Love it!

So Quiche - Amazing purple sparkles. Love!

I <3 this - This one is suffering from the drying affect.

Flux - Another one that isn't as nice as when first purchased. It seems the matte shades are not staying coloured.

Snapdragon - This shade doesn't look as nice on my skin as I hoped. A nice shade for others.

Daddy - Again, the colour is hard to get on the lids after a few months.

Partridge - This is from last year's christmas collection.

Bae - A because shade that has also been losing pigmentation.

One last time from top to bottom, Thumper, Girly, Get Lucky, Hello, Fringe, So Quiche, I heart This, Flux, Snapdragon, Partridge, and Bae.

And because no blog post is complete without me looking like an idiot...

I'm wearing Hello, Get Lucky and Partridge. We're practicing the duck face pose.

Colourpop is wonderful! I do love my shadows. I know I live somewhere semi-arid, and although it's much more moist than were I used to live I think I'm still seeing my shadows dry up. I think I need to take this into consideration (and along with my desire to be more minimalist) and only purchase the shadows I plan to use for the next few months. Really, this allows me to pick a few trendy shades. I suspect I will be reaching for my colourPop shadows the most when I go back to work as I can get a nice complete eye look in minutes, many don't require primers, some have lasted through shadows and remained looking fabulous. Perfect for work.

Additionally, I find the ColourPop containers to be bulky for my storage space, and I like to see the actual shades (rather than searching through a pile or stacked on the side). I strongly think I will buy more (even if the Canadian dollar continues to fall) but I think I will be waiting another 7 months to see how they fair in semi-arid conditions and how I can use them if/once they dry out.

Bright pinks! ColourPop Wifey, Scandy and Hello Waffle Doll

In light of the recent Hello Waffle Sale (ends today! 5off30; 10off50 with coupon code) I was very tempted to pick up Orchid, a bright pink I've read is similar to Doll.

I have Doll and I like it. I also have two similar ColourPop colours I like.

top to bottom: ColourPop wifey liner
Hello Waffle Doll
ColourPop Wifey Lippie
ColourPop Scandy Lippie*

*I read once this was a dupe of a MAC colour.
ColourPop sells for $5 U.S., Hello Waffle in Doll is $5.50 cdn, $4.55 U.S.

Top of the lippies - I find these package colours to be very true to the product colours.

Applicator tips: angled vs flat. I see no difference in use.

The black gross mark is from the sharpener - I haven't yet designated one for lip products and one for eyes (mostly as my three ColourPop lip liners are the only ones I have).

Just a note: I've heard other find the ColourPop lippies will settle into fine line. I almost always line first, and I haven't seen this. I just apply Doll to my lips. It's also common for me to apply all of these products over recently chap-sticked lips.

Natural light in the house (read: no lights on):

I think Doll falls closer to Wifey, and that's probably why I really like it. They both lean slightly bluer. Doll can also be built up beyond the one swipe seen here.

And in the sun:

Looks like I'm not the only one who loves bright pink! 😉💕

All three of these shades did fade to a very similar shade. I also like to use Wifey in particular as a base layered with a gloss in top.

Did I pick it up? No. Not because I didn't want it but because I don't know if I'll be able to use all three of these tunes up before they start to go off. I want to get to the place where the makeup/clothes/items I have are all things I love.

How many close shades do you keep together? When I use up one of these, would you replace or wait?

Colour Pop - Finally no breakage!

I'm really glad I shared my last colour pop order as they forgot to add one of my products! Customer service was great to work with, and once they confirmed it was missed (I was going nuts wondering how I lost my new lippie so fast!) sent me a coupon code for $5 off. The free shipping wasn't working, so I (against my frugal protests) added a few more shadows.

The came wrapped in squishy foam in a zipped baggie in a padded mailer. Winning combination!

My lippie that was missing, another lippie and a tootsie pencil. Because.

In case you haven't picked up Colour Pop yet, her is what the lippie stix and pencils look like. The pencils are plastic, but sharpen easily in the sharpeners as my gel eyeliners. I've been loving and using my lumier pencil several times a week.

Missing a photo showing the colours of the four I pick. Hello, Daddy, Partridge and Girly. I love all of them, and this time they all arrived unbroken!

Colour Pop - this is the way to ship them!

ColourPop lippies

After hearing great things about ColourPop and remembering I'm on leave for a couple more months, I took the chance to order some Lippies. At $5 US (~$8 Cdn) each, it was harder to narrow down my choices than to pay.  Shipping was fast and customer service was great!

Super cute holographic sticker on the mailer.

Here are the eyeshadows I purchased around Christmas that arrived either smashed or dried up and my attempts at molding them back into shape. Yes, it caused a bit of anxiety to order again. The package had be well wrapped, so I thought Lippies stixs and Lippie pencils would transport better.

Shipped in an air padded mailer.

They included a hand written note, and an info card on how to use the lippies.

My choices: Lip primer, cookie, lumier pencil, wifey, wifey pencil, and scandy.

Swatched L to R, first in the sun, second in the shade: cookie, lumier pencil, wifey, wifey pencil, and scandy. I love them! They don't last all day on me, but I'm a big lip licker. I'm very tempted to place another order and grab some of the more outrageous colours like Bunny (green) or one of the many purple shades.
